- Explanation of Heritage Ranks and Status Codes
[Download Codes (.doc)] - Current list of state and federal endangered species (as of March 22,
2005).
[Download List (.doc)] - Lists of the rare plants, animals, and natural communities for which we maintain site-specific information (our “Element Tracking” list). Each species and natural community is assigned global and state conservation status ranks.
- Digital data showing generalized locations of rare species records. Two
datasets are available through the Data Access and Support Center (DASC)
web site. These datasets are updated infrequently and should not be used
for site-specific analyses.
- “Natural Heritage Inventory Element Occurrence” contains
all records of rare plants, animals, and natural communities.
[Link to DASC; Search Term: "Natural Heritage Inventory"] - “Threatened and Endangered Species Occurrences” contains
records for species listed as endangered, threatened, or in need of
conservation (SINC).

- “Natural Heritage Inventory Element Occurrence” contains
all records of rare plants, animals, and natural communities.
Information available by request
- Life history, habitat, and global range data for all vertebrate and selected invertebrate animals known to occur in the state. Statewide range information is available for most vertebrates.
- Management information for selected species of rare plants and animals.
- Lists of the rare plants and animals known to occur in each Kansas’ county. These lists are created from the KSNHI databases and are based on verified location data.
- Site-specific reviews for rare plants, animals, and natural communities.
